Network Management System

Challenges

  • TNB R initiative to understand the root cause of large power consumers RMR meter data loss.
  • Working with large, distinct modules that are integrated at the enterprise level.

Objectives

  • Track parts of all modules of the entire network.
  • Identify faults within the independently functioning modules
  • TNB was able to read 90% of the RMR data and TNB finding difficult to understand the fail reason across Celcom, MDMS Vendor and other systems.

Solution

The solution was in the form of a customized DialVaantage designed specifically for the utility sector, keeping in mind the features unique to the industry.

One significant aspect of the project that the NMS has, among other elements, is the HMI (Human Machine Interface) and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition). Another outstanding feature of DialVaantage was that it was built from scratch and is fully capable of scaling up as the customer’s needs expand. Its functionality can be shared between modules as required, with adequate controls at every stage.

The Remote Meter Reading (RMR) that had been put to use by the client was reducing errors and cutting their NTL losses. However, the data received through the RMR was incomplete. Our customized solution-implementation ensured that the customer could detect the faults of the RMR and its network components without depending on any particular element of the infrastructure.

Services offered

We Implemented Dialvaantage, the network management product developed inhouse by us, to track failure and data loss from RMR (remote meter reader) meters.

The customer was able to read 90% of the RMR data but had difficulty understanding the fail reasons across Celcom, MDMS Vendor and other systems.

Our product “Dialvaantage – Network Management System” resolved 30% cases through our system. We resolved the balance 70% through installation of LORA based modem to resolve network issue.
